ISLAMABAD: Lord Bishop Michael Nazir Ali, a British citizen of Pakistani descent, called on President Asif Ali Zardari here on Tuesday.


BEIJING: A widely circulated Chinese daily has declared President Asif Ali Zardari among 2008 Top Ten Prominent Foreign Figures.
The Guangming daily in its issue of December 29 while declaring President Zardari among Top Ten prominent foreign personalities also published in detail his educational and political career.
The Chinese language daily stated that Asif Ali Zardari, the cochairman of Pakistan People’s Party, took oath as the 14th President of Pakistan for a period of five years on September 9.
“Consensus says that The Times of Zardari has commenced while the times of Musharraf concluded”, the paper noted.
President Zardari is husband of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto. His father, Hakim Ali Zardari is a successful statesman and businessman and he is political intimate of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
After assassination of Benazir Bhutto on December 27 last year, Zardari was nominated as cochairman of Pakistan People’s Party and became the prominent figure of country’s political circle as well as internationally.
As Cochairmen of PPP and working in coordination with country’s other political parties, Asif Ali Zardari contributed his efforts in maintaining the stability and achieved the successful change of country’s leadership.
