Iranian energy minister meets PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its brotherly relations with Iran which are rooted in common history, culture, geography and faith. The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Iranian minister for energy Parviz Fattah, who called on him here at the Prime Minister House on Monday.Talking about the regional situation, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s stance of not allowing its soil to be used against other countries for any terrorist activities.He said Pakistan always strived for peaceful co-existence with all its neighbours and expected the same from them as well.He expressed the hope that the MoU signed between the two countries for the import of 1000 MW of electricity from Iran would soon be materialized. The PM while underlining the importance of enhanced people-to-people contact said that frequent exchanges of visits is imperative to further cementing the existing bilateral ties between the two countries. Iranian Minister Parviz Fattah termed the stability and security of Pakistan essential for the peace and security of the region.
